Thomas Gould enlisted with the 52nd Regiment at Plymouth, Devon on 16th June 1806. He served with the Regiment throughout the Peninsular War and was awarded the Military General Service Medal with 13 clasps; each clasp representing the individual battles he took part in during the War*. Thomas Gould was also presented with the Waterloo Medal for his service on 18th June 1815. Both medals are on display in The Royal Green Jackets (Rifles) Museum.
Thomas was discharged from the Regiment in 1823 and moved to Chester. He joined The Royal Cheshire Militia in which he served until 1852. He died on 1st November 1865 aged 72 years.
